Vol. 1 -#5, July/August 2011

Welcome!

Group rates at the Tuscany expire 9/16.

Do not miss out on the start of something great!!

The upcoming classes and AGM for AABP are the starting point to promote Bowenwork and help it become recognized as the ultimate bodywork by the public and also by professionals.

There will be exciting presentations at the AGM. See the schedule in this newsletter. Research is on the schedule. You can become a part of what we need to document Bowenwork’s effectiveness. This is an exciting time that many of us have been waiting for since 2006, when the idea for AABP began.

Elections

This is the last call for nominations (or volunteers) for our 2011 elections. I want to say congratulations to all of you who have become members of “our very own” organization: you are now a part of a professional association that represents Bowenwork practitioners (AABP) in the U.S. Our association will be about us: what we do, how we do it, and how we can spread the word about our amazing modality.

Only one candidate has been nominated for each of the following positions:

- Vice President: Tom Clarke

- Treasurer: Lynn Stromquist Cooke

- Director-at-Large: Virginia (Ginny) Hahn

- Director-at-Large: Joe Salas

There have been no nominations (or volunteers) for the following positions:

- President

- Secretary

- 2nd Vice President

- 3 more Directors-at-Large

Our association would be in a much stronger position if there were nominations for candidates to fill remaining positions, and also if there were some competition for the three offices for which there have been volunteers.

Please consider running! You do not have to be experienced in this kind of work, just dedicated. We need you.  We must receive your confirmation and your biography by August 15th to be included on the ballot, which will be sent out by August 20th in a special email. Ballot voting will be open for 14 days from then. The candidate receiving the most votes for each position shall be deemed elected. They and the membership will be so notified of the results.

If there are no candidates for any of the open offices, the Executive Committee will attempt to find AABP members to fill these positions until the next regular election.

Constitution and By-Laws

A copy of the proposed Constitution and By-Laws will be sent to all members no later than September 10th. You will need to look them over and, within two weeks, send us any concerns, changes, additions or deletions that you think should be made. This will give us some time to incorporate any needed changes before the AGM so we do not have to do that at the AGM. Anything brought to our attention will be considered. We need your input so we know what the membership wants. As time allows we will send updated copies so you can be up to date.

We want to be able to ratify the Constitution and By-Laws at the AGM.

Hydramax USA

John Carlin of Hydramax USA will attend AGM Day in Las Vegas. Hydramax is one of the two U.S. distributors of the Aqua Hydration Therapy mentioned in Dr. John Coleman’s book “Stop Parkin’ and Start Livin’”. The book outlines Dr. Coleman’s recovery from Parkinson’s and how he attributed 60% of his recovery to this product. Mr. Carlin emailed that, “Our price structure has changed because of the exchange rate between Australia and the US. (my supplier has also raised their prices) Minimum order is still 3 sets, either gender. It is $40/set either gender for 5 sets or more. Shipping for 5 sets is $17 I also carry John Coleman’s book and will bring some copies to the conference.” Practitioners wishing to purchase these products will obviously save on shipping.

Hoping to see you at the AGM.
