Sue Rutter hands out a great powerpoint printout of slides for us to follow along. It is designed to help us navigate through the BAUSA website (BowenworkAcademyUSA.com) and the Bowenwork .com website which can also be attained by typing in Bowtech.com . There was also a reference to BowenworkAmerica.com which is our AABP website.
The continuing education credits were explained in detail. The fact that our continuing education credits also satisfy other organizations’ continuing education requirements, listed in the presentation, was also explained and questions were answered concerning whether it was going to be kept track of throughout the United States.
Teresa Peterson commented that ABMP had an interactive legislative map on their website that showed which had legislation for Bowenwork. (There is a map was about Massage legislation at http://www.massagetherapy.com/careers/stateboards.php with a pdf of state regulations at PDF of state regulations.)
Sue Rutter went on to explain that we are on par with similar organizations in our website design as a professional organization. She also stated that there is a new online business ethics course for which a practitioner must show receipt and completion for CE credit.
Once a practitioner is tenured, the CE requirements are cut in half. This is a valuable reward to staying current with registration and classes as you go through your first ten years. Ways to keep yourself up to date are to always carry your attendance book with you so that you get the needed signatures at your classes and if you take 16 hours per year, you will never be behind.
In answer to questions, Sue stated that it will be discussed in instructors meeting if other modalities’ credits will be considered for our needed CE credits; reflexology being the stated example. She did say that they have had many requests for this.
As far as feedback forms go, the most given responses that students and practitioners give include 1.) Slow Down and 2.)Less is More.
Attendance for the full day of AGM activities qualifies for four (4) hours of BTAA/BAUSA continuing education credit.
